@ugliegirlie All behold the spectacle
A fleshy limbless rectangle
Sitting on a pedestal
So nasal handicapable
Sniff and remember silver ball
Contortions that he can't recall
The torso on a trampoline
The happiness melts into dream
To talk is an enunciated sneeze
To taste is some foul air to breathe
One thought it lasts a day and at that rate he'll most likely live forever!
He's a bird in flight, a hermaphrodite
And he f**ks himself as he f**ks the world
His twitching brain can dance within
Gyrating more like gelatin
A secret means of ecstasy
Acute and very olfactory
To see is colors crawling in the nose
To hear is stinking highs and lows
He's got an itch but nothing with which to scratch the itch - so wish it away
With his mouth sewn shut, he still shakes his butt
Cuz he's Hitler... Can you give me the relevency of this?

@bondojoe Trouble in Paradise was the title track of SHF Band's second album. It wasn't well received by critics or fans. The first is good, but I love this one.

Chris Hillman was originally from The Byrds and later worked with Stephen Stills' Manassas, was a Flying Burrito Brother and formed The Desert Rose Band.

Richie Furay was in Buffalo Springfield and Poco. I can live without Furay stuff, though. I find him too wimpy for my taste.

Manassas - Stephen Stills, Chris Hillman, Al Perkins (Lap-steel) Joe LaLa (Percussion) Paul Harris (Piano) Dallas Taylor (Drums) Calvin Samuels (Bass)

Perkins, Lala and Harris were also members of the SHF Band. They are awesome musicians.

@DemandingFemale Growin up here in Dallas, Tx with a Mom who loved her music and listenin to Hendrix, The Doors and Janis Joplin when they were the new Top 40 radio my tastes are pretty much Rock. However, having listened to the classic rock genre for more than 40yrs now, while having collected most of it I care about, these days I'm a bit more diversified.

I DO NOT listen to country (YUCK) or most rap or anything that makes me wanna bang my head against things harder than it is ... which ain't much, though there's little heavy metal stuff that gets play here at the casa.

@bondojoe I grew up in London, England, during the 70/80's. By the time I was old enough to buy my own music hardly any of those bands got airplay. I discovered most of the bands I listen to from rooting through the discounted junk box in my local record shop (directly opposite my family home) I would buy anything that I could afford.

@DemandingFemale I fondly remember the summer of '80 when all the record companies decided to dump huge catalogs of music as "cut outs", meaning they were depleting these albums from production runs. There were racks filled with albums in lotsa stores and usually for less than $1 an album. That summer I snagged like 80 albums and scored lotsa great music on the cheap :>)

This video is considered to be be the first music video. It is from a video named Elephant Parts (1981) by Michael Nesmith who was member of the Monkeys!

I like this! smiley smiley

@Stephen386 Wow, big thanks man, I had totally forgotten this song, though another one he did (totally different style, kinda folky) called "Joanne" has been stuck in my memory for many years now.

@bondojoe Basically, a girl loved some one , he /she met some one ( she wolf ) leaving her heart broken.

But the video is a wee bit different.

I just like the video. It's cool. smiley

@RAVENOUSbird Ok...I got it. The video showed everything being shattered...which I guess is how your whole life feels, when your heart is. Good song.

@1FRAC1 True story: in '76 I had tickets for myself and my then GF for The Who concert but wound up bein in a hospital bed after a major car wreck and missed it. "Quadrophenia" and "Who's Next" are 2 of the greatest rock albums ever made!!

@DemandingFemale Sad news indeed. Always appreciated The Jefferson Airplane's stuff. Interesting musically as well as the poetry in their lyrics, the same qualities that similarly always attracted me The Doors.

This is one of my faves by them. As somewhat of an autobigraphical insight into what went on in the band it shows how Grace held a permanent sway over what went on in and "within" the band. BTW, damn I had the hots for Grace Slick in their reign as one of Americas biggest psychedelic bands .. man she was SMOKIN!

@mrkim56 Triad was originally a David Crosby song. He wrote it in about 1967 when he was still a member of The Byrds.

This is the original from The Bryds. It became a song better know by Crosby, Stills and Nash fans, though.

The acoustic studio album is definitely worth listening to, too.

@DemandingFemale Wow, I love learning things and this was certainly news to me, so, THANKS! I don't believe I'd ever heard this version before and was totally unaware it existed. I'd always thought it was an Airplane song since it perfectly laid out the ongoing social dynamic going on within the band as Grace was sleeping with different members of the band. Can't remember who it was I saw interviewed but they said there was a constant power shift within the band as whoever was sleepin w/grace at the moment had the most pull within the band and at times that meant more than one male member, both technically and literally lol

@mrkim56 Everyone was sleeping with every at the time lol. In-band relationships always spell trouble and for plenty of bands it meant the end.

Have you heard Wooden Ships? That was co-written by Kantner (Jefferson), Dave Crosby and Stephen Stills and both bands released it the same year (69).

This was written by Stills (Buffalo Springfield) about Grace Slick.

@DemandingFemale It seems like in a lot of bands there's an ongoing sexual tension, that once a couple is formed, breaks the boundaries and wreaks havoc within the dynamic of the band.

2 examples that come to mind were Delores O'Riordan and Pat Benetar. While both remain(ed) happily married, their bandmate unions spelled the end of their bands.

Always liked both versions of "Wooden Ships" though the Airplanes' version is my fave, problee because it had Grace singin in it lol.

Though I didn know "Rock and Roll Woman" was written about Grace, it dudn surprise me.

CSNYs song "Suite For Judy Blue Eyes" was written about another lilting voice dreamboat : Judy Collins smiley

@mrkim56 You should check out some of Grace's early work with The Great Society. She wrote Somebody to Love and White Rabbit with them.

@bondojoe I hear ya there dude but I had 2 major rock crushes and they were at the opposite end of the spectrum. Grace Slick and Joni Mitchell couldn't be much farther apart as artists. Grace was wild and raucous while Joni was melodic and demure but both of 'em rocked my world!

@DemandingFemale I'd bet she snared just about any male target she ever set her sights on with little effort.

Her lines from "Real Good for Free" - "I'll play for you if you have the money or if you're a friend to me" has led to more than a few fantasies about her sittin on the bed w/her guitar and singin to me smiley
